How to Redesign a Room with Confidence?
The answer is rarely more inspiration. What most rooms need is not another idea. They need a clearer plan. There is a particular kind of frustration that comes with a room you know could be better. You have saved the images. You have noticed the colours, the furniture, the lighting, perhaps even the feeling you would like to create. Yet when it comes to making decisions in your own home, everything suddenly feels less clear. What should stay? What needs to change? What comes first? And how do you make sure that the choices you make individually will still work together in the end? A well-considered room is not created by copying one beautiful image or buying the next thing that catches your eye. It comes from understanding the space in front of you, how you want it to feel, how you need it to function, and what it needs to support in your everyday life, then making each decision with that bigger picture in mind.
You do not need to be a designer to make good decisions
Many people believe they need to choose between doing a room entirely alone or handing the project over to a designer. I do not think that is always true. You know your home better than anyone. You know the way you live in it, the rituals that matter to you, the things that make a space feel welcoming, and the details that will never feel like you. Those instincts are important. They should be at the centre of the process.
What can be difficult is knowing how to translate them into a room that feels coherent. You might love warm, textured spaces but not know how to use that feeling in your particular layout. You may have a beautiful existing piece that you want to keep, but feel unsure how to build around it. Or perhaps the options themselves have become the problem: too many finishes, too many colours, too many ways of doing the same thing. This is where thoughtful guidance makes a difference. Not by replacing your vision, but by giving it shape.
A room works when the decisions work together
In my work as an Interior Design Advisor, I often see people get stuck because they are looking at each choice in isolation. They are trying to choose a sofa before they understand the room’s layout, a paint colour before they have settled the mood, or lighting before they have thought about how the space will actually be used.
None of these decisions are wrong to care about. They simply need to be made in a more considered order. A room starts with the larger questions:
How do you want to feel when you walk in?
What is the room asking of you, rest, conversation, work, gathering, quiet?
What already works well, and what is creating tension?
Once those foundations are clear, the more visible decisions become easier to make. The palette, materials, furniture, lighting, and finishing details begin to support one another rather than compete for attention. That is when a room starts to feel less like a collection of things and more like a space with a point of view.
Expert guidance should give you confidence to redesign your room, not take away control
For more than 20 years, I have worked across residential, commercial, and hospitality interiors. Throughout that time, what has continued to interest me most is not simply the finished room, but the process of getting there: the conversation, the questions, the moment when separate ideas begin to form a clear direction. My approach has always been advisory at heart. I listen first. I want to understand what you are drawn to, what is not working, what is practical for your life, and what matters most to you. From there, I help you make sense of the options and build a plan that feels personal, achievable, and considered. You remain the person making the decisions. You choose what to buy, who to work with, and how quickly to move. My role is to make sure those decisions are the right ones for the room you want to create.
Your space. Your vision. My expertise.
It is a collaborative way of working, and for many people, it is exactly the support they need to stop delaying a room they care about.

Introducing Plan My Space. In One Day.
Plan My Space. In One Day. is a hands-on, four-hour Interior Advisory Workshop for people who are ready to redesign one room in their home, but would value professional direction before committing time, energy, and money. This is not a generic decorating class. It is not about handing you a look to copy, or telling you what your home should be. It is a focused opportunity to work on the room that has been on your mind and to see it with fresh clarity.
Together, we will look beyond individual pieces and passing trends to understand what will make your room work as a whole. You will be guided through the same kind of thinking I use in real interior projects: considering the room’s purpose, its potential, the feeling you want to create, and the decisions that will bring it together with confidence.
By the end of the session, you will have a clearer understanding of your space and a design direction that connects your taste, lifestyle, priorities, and practical needs. You will know which decisions need to come first, how to assess the choices ahead, and how to move forward without second-guessing every step.
Most importantly, you will leave with the confidence to take the project forward yourself, knowing that each choice belongs to a bigger, more considered whole.
Is this the right next step for you?
This workshop is for you if you have a room that feels unfinished, underused, or disconnected from the rest of your home. It is for you if you have gathered inspiration but cannot quite translate it into your actual space. And it is for you if you want your home to feel more personal and intentional, without feeling as though you have to become an interior designer overnight.
You do not need previous design experience. You simply need a room, some questions, and the willingness to give it the focused attention it deserves. A thoughtful room begins with clarity. Once you understand the direction, the decisions become less daunting, and the home you have been imagining can begin to take shape.
